Terrific turn out for MCC’s Crab, Wine & Beer Days!

Mendocino Coast Clinics Crab, Wine & Beer Days brought hundreds of people to Pentecost Hall and the Big White Tent to feast on local delicacies while raising money for its Teen Clinic scholarship fund, computer equipment for its pediatric office and to help fund the changes required in the new federal health care legislation.  Participants came from all over California, 13 states and as far away as Connecticut!

“We recognize the financial pressures everyone is still struggling with, so it is especially rewarding that people continue to come through for us,” said Jeff Warner, MCC Board Chair. “Mendocino Coast Clinics (MCC) is currently raising money to support the transitions needed to fully implement the Affordable Care Act (ACA) or “Obamacare”, which emphasizes patients having a more participatory role in their health care, which will also be available to more people ” he added.

“MCC does a terrific service for the community, for those who don’t have insurance as well as those who do”, said Joe Caito. Caito Fisheries is the Premier Sponsor of both events.

The Crab Cake Cook Off and Wine Tasting Competition had two categories of awards, those declared the best by professional media judges and the ever popular People’s Choice Awards, selected by the attendees at Saturday’s event.  Chef Mark Dym, Little River Inn, won the Professional Judge’s Award with Chef Nicholas Petti from Mendo Bistro placing second and Chef Loretta Evans, North Coast Brewing Company taking third. Chef Adam Celaya representing Adam's Restaurant won The People’s Choice Award with Chef Nicholas Petti, Mendo Bistro, winning second and Chef Marc Dym, Little River Inn placing third. Also participating were:  Julia Kendrick Conway, Assaggiare Mendocino; Scott Effinger, Cliff House Restaurant; Margaret Fox, Harvest Market; Felix Toscano, Mendocino Hotel; Sal Meza, Redwood Coast Senior Center; Sam Greene, Saucy and Daniel Zaldivar, Steak & Burger House. Read On...
